License plate auction Bidder pays 262,000 francs for "ZH 11"
On Wednesday evening, a bidder bought the "ZH 11" number plate at auction for 262,000 francs. The record for the most expensive license plate of all time was not broken.

"ZH 11" could not replace "ZH 24". This went over the table in 2024 for 299,000 francs. 141 bids were received for the number eleven, with only three people bidding from 160,000 francs, as can be seen on the auction page of the Zurich Road Traffic Office.
"ZH 11" is the lowest number ever auctioned in the canton of Zurich. It was the second most expensive and went to the new owner, who called himself "Z11Z" in the online auction.
Only recently, the canton of Solothurn canceled the bidding process for "SO 1" due to "dubious offers". A user with the rather unusual name "Inzest" had bid 1 million francs, twice as much as the previous highest bid. By comparison, things were more civilized in the canton of Zurich.
The canton of Zurich auctions five-digit and lower license plates as well as special six-digit number combinations on the Internet every week. In recent years, this has generated millions in revenue. This revenue flows into the general state coffers of the Canton of Zurich.
