The eight-year-old girl was on an excursion to the indoor pool with her school class. A teacher, a trainee at the end of teacher training and a mother accompanied the 16 children.
No one in the pool was directly aware of how the girl drowned. A bather suddenly saw the motionless child at the bottom of the deep water area of the pool and rescued her. She later died in hospital.
It was an incredibly tragic accident, said the court president at the opening of the verdict on Thursday. It was the worst thing that could happen to a family - but also the worst thing that could have happened to a lifeguard and his supervisor.
