The biscuit manufacturer Hug has set a new turnover record of 136 million Swiss francs in 2025. The growth of the Darvida brand and strong exports in the catering business are among the drivers of this record figure.

The biscuit baker from Malters announced on Wednesday that sales of 136 million Swiss francs were 4 percent higher than in the previous year. Darvida recorded double-digit growth in the retail trade, the company wrote in the press release.

In the biscuit segment, Hug bundled all products under the Wernli brand in 2025. This has had an effect, it said. Wernli is gaining market share and positioning itself as the leading biscuit brand in Switzerland, Co-Managing Director Anna Hug was quoted as saying in the press release. At the same time, the market remains challenging, partly due to increasing private labels, imported products and "sharply higher raw material prices".

The food service business is also continuing to grow. Sales rose to 53 million Swiss francs, surpassing the previous year's record. The export business in particular contributed to this development, despite challenges such as "trade tariffs, geopolitical tensions and a strong Swiss franc", it said.

In the area of sustainability, the biscuit manufacturer announced that from this year, all of its own baked goods will be produced with IP-Suisse sugar. In doing so, the company aims to increase the proportion of Swiss raw materials and promote biodiversity.

For 2026, Hug is expecting "moderate sales growth" and is planning investments of 6.5 million Swiss francs.
