Transport BLS transports more passengers than ever before
BLS transported more passengers in 2024 than ever before. 71.5 million passengers traveled on BLS trains and buses, the company announced on Friday.

This broke the passenger record from the previous year by four percent. According to the transport company, leisure and tourist traffic grew particularly strongly. In the Bernese Oberland, Valais and Simplon regions, BLS recorded an above-average increase in passenger numbers of 11 percent, according to the annual report.
Shipping, on the other hand, just missed the passenger record from the previous year, but achieved the second-highest figure in its history. With around 200,000 passengers per day, BLS trains and buses carry more people than cars on the A1 highway between Grauholz BE and Schönbühl BE, according to BLS.
Mainly thanks to the high passenger numbers, BLS is generating a consolidated profit of CHF 23.6 million for the 2024 financial year.
