That is seven percent more than the previous day. Brent was last this expensive at the beginning of 2022.
Since the start of the Iran war at the end of February, the price of Brent crude, the global benchmark, has risen by just over 70 percent. Other oil prices, such as that for the US grade WTI, have also risen to a similar extent.
Traders attributed the sharp rise during the night to the ongoing stalled negotiations between Iran and the USA. According to a report by the US portal "Axios", US President Donald Trump is to be informed about new military options against Iran. The Strait of Hormuz, which is important for global gas and oil trade, remains blocked and there is currently no prospect of it being opened.
