On October 1, 2023 in Embrach ZH, the Swiss man had beaten his Colombian ex-wife, who was eight years younger than him and the mother of their nine-year-old daughter, to death with his bare fists. The public prosecutor ruled it was murder and demanded 16 years' imprisonment. The defense lawyer pleaded for ten years for intentional homicide.

The relationship had become increasingly conflict-ridden since the divorce in 2015. The accused claimed serious emotional problems in court. For him, the relationship was not definitely over, but for the woman it was. He also accused her of treating the child inappropriately during his visits to her. He tried unsuccessfully to have her deported to Colombia.
