The Danish toy company Lego has been on the up for some time now. The business with everything to do with Lego bricks brought the company new record figures for turnover and profit in 2024.

Driven by strong demand for its products, Lego posted a new record result in the past year. The Danish toy company's turnover rose by 13 percent year-on-year to 74.3 billion kroner (around 9.5 billion Swiss francs), while the bottom line was a 5 percent increase in net profit to 13.8 billion kroner (1.76 billion euros). The company once again outperformed the rest of the slightly declining toy industry and gained significant market share, the company announced at its headquarters in Billund, Denmark.

"2024 has been an exceptional year for the Lego Group," said Group CEO Niels B. Christiansen. Record results were achieved in terms of both sales and profit, while Lego also accelerated its spending on strategic initiatives for sustainability and digital technologies.

For example, the proportion of sustainable raw materials used in purchasing has more than doubled. According to the Group, around a third of the materials used to manufacture Lego products now come from renewable sources - in the previous year, this figure was only around an eighth.

High demand, diverse portfolio for all ages

One of the secrets of success in Billund is the broad and diverse portfolio of Lego products, which is intended to appeal not only to children, but to all age groups and different interests. With a total of 840 products, the building block giant's range has recently been bigger than ever - almost half of which were added in 2024, according to Lego.

The most popular product ranges included series such as Lego City, Lego Star Wars, Lego Technic, Lego Icons and Lego Harry Potter. To enable customers to get to know these and other items, Lego not only relies on online retail, but also continues to rely heavily on physical stores: there were 1,069 Lego stores in the world in 2024, two fewer than in the previous year.
