A bus has rammed into a supermarket in Salzburg, Austria.

One person was killed, a spokesperson for the fire department told the German Press Agency. Seven other people were injured, some of them seriously, reported a spokeswoman for the Red Cross.

The accident occurred at a traffic circle in the Salzburg district of Itzling. Photos from the APA news agency show the front of the bus smashing through the glass facade of the supermarket.

The vehicle is an electric bus that draws its power from an overhead line. The cause of the accident was initially unclear.
