The business umbrella organization Economiesuisse is calling for a "sense of proportion" in banking regulation. UBS should not be burdened with requirements that put it at a disadvantage in international competition.

The aim of new regulations for systemically important banks must be to achieve a competitive and at the same time stable financial center, Economiesuisse announced on Tuesday at its annual media conference. "Switzerland needs a strong UBS."
The export economy is dependent on an internationally well-connected global bank being able to accompany, finance and support its business activities abroad, it said. "It is in everyone's interest that UBS is competitive."
However, this does not mean that the existing banking regulations do not need to be revised. "It is important that the right things are done and that action is taken where it is actually needed."
