The canton expects the federal government to contribute CHF 280.8 million in the coming year. The canton's share is higher than planned. This is primarily a result of the indirect counter-proposal to the premium relief initiative rejected by the people. It is just under CHF 26 million.

The cantonal contribution approved by the Grand Council for the 2025 entitlement year is intended to continue the special consideration given to families and single people without interruption.

The canton expects 153,800 people to receive an individual premium reduction in the coming year. In addition, there are 23,500 people who also receive supplementary benefits (EL) and 12,700 social welfare recipients.

Relieving the burden on families and the middle class

Overall, the canton expects 190,00 people to receive a premium reduction. Above all, the lower middle class and families are to be relieved.

Last year, the canton spent around CHF 37 million less on premium reductions than expected. This was mainly due to the fact that fewer residents registered for the premium reduction than expected, according to the statement. Around 10,000 people did not register their entitlement with the SVA Aargau.
