On the morning of the accident, red stripes on the wet asphalt indicate where the car left the road in the sharp right-hand bend and plunged down the slope. Two 19-year-old women and a 21-year-old man who died in the accident were sitting there.
According to the police, the accident occurred shortly after two o'clock on Monday night on country road 204 between Naumburg and Schönburg. The road here runs along the Saale river. A 43-year-old man was at the wheel. He suffered minor injuries, as did the 18-year-old female passenger. The three young adults who died in the accident succumbed to their serious injuries at the scene, said a police spokesman.

A police spokesman explained that police officers had found evidence at the scene that pointed to alcohol consumption. A blood sample was taken from the driver.
