Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis spoke with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov about ways to achieve peace in Ukraine. They discussed the need for dialog and inclusive multilateralism, Cassis announced on X.

Feridun Sinirlioglu, Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), also took part in the meeting. They also discussed how the OSCE could serve as a platform to facilitate this dialog.

The aim was to support efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine based on international law, said Cassis.

Cassis landed in Moscow on Thursday for a two-day visit as OSCE Chairperson-in-Office. The aim of the trip was to engage in dialog with "all sides", he wrote on X on Thursday.

On Monday, Cassis had already traveled to Kiev together with Sinirlioglu. There they met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha.
