An eight-year-old boy on a scooter was hit and seriously injured by a car in Bellach SO on Saturday. A Rega helicopter flew the child to hospital.

The accident happened shortly before 3 p.m., as reported by the Solothurn cantonal police on Sunday. A man was driving his car on Marktstrasse. He had turned left at the apartment buildings there to get to a parking lot of the properties.
At the same time, two boys were riding children's scooters on the northern sidewalk of Marktstrasse, according to the cantonal police. For reasons still to be clarified, there was a collision between the car and one of the children in the area of the sidewalk or the parking lot entrance.
In addition to the police and the public prosecutor's office, two ambulance teams, an emergency medical team, a Rega crew and a towing company were deployed. The police and the public prosecutor's office began an investigation into the circumstances and cause of the accident.
