Software Chinese Tencent Group once again reports strong sales growth
The Chinese tech group Tencent has reported double-digit percentage revenue growth for the third quarter in a row. Tencent operates the important Chinese multifunctional app WeChat. It is an important global player in the gaming sector.

In the three months to June, turnover increased by 15 percent compared to the same quarter last year to 184.5 billion yuan (20.8 billion Swiss francs), as the Shenzen-based group explained on Wednesday.
The company is also active in cloud computing, entertainment and artificial intelligence (AI); its chatbot Yuanbao is one of the most popular AI services in China. The company emphasized that investments in artificial intelligence have already paid off. For example, AI functions have been integrated into WeChat and used in various video games.
Tencent was one of the big losers when the Chinese government began to crack down on tech companies in 2020. The wind has since changed again, but the Chinese gaming industry in particular continues to suffer as the authorities try to keep children and young people away from video games.
