A total of five cars were involved in the accident, as the police reported on Sunday.
A 34-year-old Portuguese driver under the influence of alcohol lost control of his vehicle shortly before 7.40 p.m. and initially crashed into a parked car, which then skidded onto the sidewalk and hit the two pedestrians.
The 19-year-old tourist and his 51-year-old mother were seriously injured.
The vehicle of the person responsible for the accident subsequently collided with an oncoming car, a tree and two other parked vehicles. The driver suffered minor injuries. The two other drivers involved were uninjured.
The public prosecutor's office has opened a criminal investigation.
