In the early summer of 2023, Geoinformation Bern had the municipal area flown over and new basic data collected, which was used to update the geometry of the city model. This was announced by the Directorate of Civil Engineering, Transport and Urban Greenery in a press release.
The terrain model and vegetation data were also updated, it added.
In the 3D city model, the city can be virtually explored and measured using a computer, tablet or smartphone. The model also contains tools such as the address and property number of each building.
The digital city model has been accessible to the public since 2021. The model includes all of the city's buildings, the planned buildings and the most important bridges in detail.
