Switzerland - EU Committee discontinues Europe initiative and focuses on Bilaterals III
The initiative committee of the Europe Initiative has stopped collecting signatures. Instead, the eleven organizations involved want to focus on the Bilaterals III. With the result of the negotiations, the main objectives could be implemented more quickly.

The initiative has acted as a tailwind, Operation Libero announced on Wednesday. The outcome of the negotiations forms the basis for securing and deepening bilateral relations with the EU in the long term.
Thanks to the Bilaterals III, the European policy decision that the Europe Initiative wanted to bring about is "within reach". The initiators would now do everything in their power to help this decision to a yes vote.
The collection period for the referendum "For a strong Switzerland in Europe" (Europe Initiative), which was launched in April 2024, would have expired on October 2, 2025. On Wednesday, the initiators did not want to provide any information on the number of signatures already collected. Operation Libero President Sanija Ameti explained that interim results would not be published.
