There are still occasional bangs, said Chantal Wälchli, spokeswoman for the Solothurn cantonal police, to the Keystone-SDA news agency around midday. However, there is no longer any danger to the population. The smoke is no more dangerous than on August 1st.

The explosions began shortly after 7.30 am. The police then called on the population to close their windows and doors as a precaution and to stay indoors. Large columns of smoke rose.

The fireworks were in a warehouse in the building. The fire departments from Breitenbach and Büsserach were deployed to Passwangstrasse. The police spokeswoman said that extinguishing and clearing work was still underway at midday.

As far as we know so far, no one was injured. One firefighter was checked on site by the ambulance, said Wälchli. He was uninjured.
