The Competition Commission has not imposed any conditions on the deal, said its Deputy Director Frank Stüssi on Tuesday in response to an inquiry from the news agency AWP.
In July, both companies announced that Ochsner Sport would take over 27 of the 49 SportX stores. 24 locations will continue to operate under the Ochsner Sport brand and three locations under the Dosenbach brand, Migros announced in a press release at the time. The stores are expected to be converted from March 2025.
Last February, the retailer announced its intention to divest SportX. This was part of the strategy to focus on the core business, which involves the sale of several specialist stores and business areas. Since then, the electronics retailer Melectronics and the bicycle retailer Bike World have been sold. The orthodontics subsidiary Bestsmile will be closed.
Migros also intends to sell its travel subsidiary Hotelplan, the Micasa furniture store, the Do it + Garden stores and the cosmetics and hygiene subsidiary Mibelle. The retailer also announced plans to cut up to 1,500 jobs out of a total of around 100,000. The "orange giant" wants to become more profitable again with these tough cuts.
