For two months, intensive work was carried out on the railroad line between Bern and Fribourg. Now the line can be put back into operation on Monday. (archive picture)

After extensive construction work, the Bern-Freiburg railroad line will be back in operation on Monday. During the eight-week closure of the line, over 200 people worked on various projects. A total of 90 million Swiss francs was invested.
The main work included the complete renovation of Schmitten FR station, the renewal of the points on the east side of Fribourg station, track maintenance in the Düdingen area and the renewal of the track and overhead lines between Bern and Flamatt, as announced by SBB on Wednesday.
From next Monday, 04:00, trains will be running again as usual between Bern and Fribourg. Test runs will take place on Sunday beforehand.
