Coop is launching a pilot project to reduce food waste. The retailer is now offering fresh meat products that are frozen at the use-by date at half price in 16 stores.

According to a statement on Monday, the products will keep for a further 90 days. The project is being carried out in supermarkets in the Northwestern Switzerland-Central Switzerland-Zurich sales region.

The selected frozen products are labeled with the "Use instead of waste" sticker and the deep-freeze symbol.
