On Friday, the Federal Council adopted its dispatch on various amendments to the Military Act. Among other things, it wants to make training and refresher courses more compatible with professional and private life.
Recruit schools should no longer last 18 weeks across the board, but should be shorter depending on training requirements. The remaining days of service can be completed more flexibly. The Federal Council also wants to promote digital exchange: In future, members of the armed forces will be able to access all their information via an app.
The Federal Council wants to improve protection against cyber threats: In crisis situations, the army should not only be able to requisition vehicles as it does today, but also, for example, electricity, data and radio frequencies, intangible assets as well as labor and services.
