The crashes occurred above Disentis at the exit of the Tuf tunnel, as reported by the cantonal police on Thursday. As can be seen in a police photo, the roadway in a tunnel bend in both directions was heavily soiled with cow dung and liquid manure.
At around 09:00, a 52-year-old motorcyclist and his passenger crashed. At the exit of the tunnel, the front wheel of the motorcycle slipped on the cow dung.
While the two riders were still recovering from minor injuries, another motorcyclist crashed in the same place. The 60-year-old suffered a fracture to his foot in the fall and was taken to hospital in Ilanz by the ambulance service.
When a patrol from the cantonal police had just finished recording the facts at the scene, a 46-year-old man came towards them on his bike. He also crashed in the same place, but remained uninjured. The Graubünden Civil Engineering Department then sent staff to clean the road.
