After the end of the rape trial against the eldest son of the Norwegian crown princess, Marius Borg Høiby must continue to wait in custody for the verdict. A court rejected his appeal against a corresponding decision from two weeks ago.

This was reported by the Norwegian news agency NTB. At the beginning of March, the 29-year-old had applied for release from custody. However, the competent court had rejected the application, citing "the seriousness and scope of the case and the high risk of recidivism". Høiby appealed against this decision.

Until last week, Mette-Marit's son from a previous relationship was on trial for rape allegations, among other things. Shortly before the trial began, he was arrested again for allegedly violating a no-contact order in relation to an ex-girlfriend and behaving recklessly. He has been in custody since then. However, a verdict in the extensive trial against him is not expected until the beginning of June.
