German customs made a significant drug find at the border to Schaffhausen. A man from the Netherlands was stopped with 26.3 kilograms of ketamine in the trunk of his car. The value of the confiscated drugs is estimated at around 750,000 Swiss francs.

The suspect said he was on his way to visit friends in Milan. However, his nervous behavior attracted the attention of the customs officers, who then carried out a thorough check of the vehicle. This revealed that there was a large, sealed parcel in the trunk.

The label on the package indicated that it contained peach iced tea flavored food supplements. Upon closer examination, however, it turned out to be the anesthetic ketamine, which is known for its hallucinogenic effects. The drugs were confiscated and the man was provisionally arrested.

The incident was announced by the main customs office in Singe on Friday. Ketamine, originally developed as an anesthetic, is increasingly being abused as a drug. The discovery underlines the ongoing efforts of the customs authorities to prevent drug smuggling at the borders.
