In Montenegro, a soldier died during fire-fighting operations when a water tank tipped over and fell on him. Another soldier was seriously injured, Montenegrin media reported, citing the Ministry of Defense.
Meanwhile, international aid for Montenegro has begun. The forests are burning in several places, particularly around the capital Podgorica, but also near the coast at Budva and in the north of the country near the border with Serbia. Help with extinguishing the fire initially came from Serbia, Croatia and Italy.
In Albania, at least four villages in the mountainous center of the country were evacuated on Tuesday due to the spreading fires. There was initially no information on the number of people affected. In the meantime, dozens of fires were extinguished, after which other fires broke out. In many cases, the police suspect arson as the cause.
