The death toll has risen to 146 after a major fire in a residential complex in Hong Kong. In addition, more than 40 people are still missing, the police announced in a press conference broadcast on public broadcaster RTHK. In this respect, it cannot be ruled out that the death toll will continue to rise. 79 people were injured by the fire.

The emergency services have now searched four of the seven burnt-down residential towers. According to the police, poor visibility is making the work particularly difficult. The apartments were extremely dark due to the devastation caused by the flames. The search of the remaining residential towers could potentially continue for several weeks.
