The accused sold the properties, which belonged to a family holding company, for CHF 16 million in 2017 against the wishes of his sister. The public prosecutor's office is accusing him of fraudulent mismanagement because the price was at least CHF 3 million too low.
The defense lawyer explained on Thursday that the holding company's liquidity was poor. There was no time to wait for an ideal buyer. In addition, the houses were in a poor condition.
The private plaintiffs accused the defendant of having sold the properties illegally without need and out of greed. He had wanted to "flatten" the family holding company, their lawyer said on Wednesday. The defense lawyer rejected this account as a conspiracy theory.
