Last year, more passengers traveled on BLS trains and buses than ever before. With around 73.4 million passengers, the company exceeded its record from 2024 by three percent.

Compared to the previous year, shipping was able to increase the most with almost eight percent more passengers, BLS announced on Friday. BLS was also able to improve punctuality once again.

According to the press release, a particularly large number of passengers traveled on the Lucerne-Langenthal, Bern-Murten/Payerne and Thun-Konolfingen lines. At the same time, BLS received 11.5 million francs less from the federal government and cantons last year.

However, numerous construction works and the geopolitical situation would have led to falling demand and additional costs for freight transport in 2025, which is why BLS closed the 2025 financial year with an overall loss of CHF 10.3 million.
