Until recently, complex edited or self-created images were mainly the discipline of design studios, photographers and content artists. Thanks to AI, however, people like you and me can now easily give images a new look - or even create completely new, artistic works. Here are a few apps that are particularly functional and easy to use - and also a lot of fun.

The disclaimer has probably never been more appropriate than this time - so let's start right at the beginning: AI apps are currently springing up like mushrooms. It is almost impossible to have an overview of all the tools and applications that are currently available. Because tomorrow there will be new ones - or existing ones will be updated with new functions or even: AI power. Our list therefore does not claim to be exhaustive. It is intended more as a journey through the dense app forest - and to highlight some applications for you that we consider to be particularly successful because we know them and have already used them ourselves. If there are any cool apps missing that you know about: Sorry in advance. The prices of the apps vary and are sometimes subject to fluctuations - so it's best to check directly in the app store of your choice to see what they currently cost. Most of the apps listed are free for a limited time or for a limited range of functions - however, full use is then subject to a charge (in-app purchases).
1. prism
With this app, you can transform photos into works of art in the style of famous painters such as Van Gogh or Picasso. The AI analyzes your picture and applies the desired art style. Prisma is particularly popular because of the variety of art styles and the high quality of the filters.
Perfect for: Art lovers who want to turn their photos into unique works of art.
Not only does this app offer a wide range of image enhancements and optimizations, it also has some super useful features. For example, you can use AI to remove individual objects from an image. You've taken the landscape picture of your life - but you spot an airplane in the sky while looking at it? Just make it disappear.
Perfect for: Photographers, social media users and amateur photo editors who want to get even more out of their pictures.
This comprehensive app has long been appreciated by many users. With the latest updates, it has also been given some very cool AI features: With "Generative Remove", for example, unwanted objects can be removed from a photo - or aesthetic blur effects can be added to a shot retrospectively thanks to "Lens Blur". Of course, general image enhancements (light, sharpness, filters, etc.) can also be achieved with AI in no time at all.
Perfect for: Professional and amateur photographers, content creators and social media enthusiasts.
The app uses neural networks to transform photos into works of art in the style of famous artists. Similar in principle to Prisma, but with its own style and a different, more customized selection of effects that deliver impressive and realistic results.
Perfect for: Creatives, experimenters and art enthusiasts.
This app offers a whole range of sophisticated image editing tools supported by AI. These include, for example, double exposures, blending modes and filters. With Photoleap (and a little practice in using it), you can achieve results that are of a very high, almost professional quality.
Perfect for: Photographers, photo enthusiasts and content creators
Of course, ChatGPT - the "mother of all AI apps" - also helps you to create individual images to your liking - however, the range of functions (and sometimes styles) is still somewhat limited here and ChatGPT also has a little trouble editing its own photos. In this context, the apps described tend to operate in niches, but - depending on your application requirements - they offer you what you are looking for in a more targeted way.
Also worth mentioning: the manufacturers' own image editing features on their devices - such as Apple on the iPhones or Samsung on their Galaxy devices. Of course, these also come with plenty of AI power these days. Samsung in particular is at the forefront here with "Galaxy AI" - and offers you very cool functions on the newer devices and the latest operating system to edit and change images or create new creations. It also recognizes objects or people, displays information about them or places objects virtually in the room.
Are you generally still a little skeptical about AI tools and have not (yet) ventured into the topic of artificial intelligence? Then our recommended apps offer you a cool introduction to the world of AI, because they work in a playful and intuitive way - and give you a good first impression of what AI can do for you in a useful (or funny) way. We hope you enjoy trying them out!
In a nutshell: What can AI do for you when editing images?
Maximum creativity: Thanks to the multitude of filters, options, effects and constantly new tools, you can express yourself like never before when creating or editing your images.
Better quality: AI improves poor shots, makes them more harmonious, corrects errors or removes distracting objects.
Less time wasted: AI completes individual tasks (or several editing steps at once) at an astonishing speed.
Useful help: Thanks to AI, you can have automatic adjustment or editing suggestions made. Many tools also help you if you don't know how something works.
More user-friendliness: Since AI acts "intelligently", it makes handling easy for you. You don't have to worry about all the details if you don't want to, and you can use the tools very intuitively.
The best pictures - whether edited with AI or not - are worth nothing if they are lost. So make sure you regularly back up your smartphone photo library. Swisscom myCloud is ideal for this - here you can easily synchronize your pictures wirelessly via the cloud, share individual shots or albums with your loved ones or marvel at them in XXL format on your TV or projector thanks to blue TV. And best of all: our tried-and-tested cloud service is permanently free for you up to 10 GB - regardless of whether you are a Swisscom customer or not. What's more, all our servers are located in Switzerland. Better safe than sorry.
