Drivers in Amriswil TG were surprised by a mishap at a Coop filling station: instead of petrol, they were given water in June, which caused their cars to break down.

The affected drivers reported helplessly to local garages, as reported by theTagblattnewspaper.

On returning to the petrol station store, the drivers were asked to leave their personal details and insurance information on a handwritten note.

The media office of Coop Mineralöl AG confirmed that the incident was due to a technical problem caused by heavy rain. This problem has since been rectified.

"One-off event"

The media office remained silent to the Tagblatt regarding the exact time frame and the number of vehicles affected.

"Our warning systems detected the water ingress," said the media office, without giving any further details.

According to Coop, the incident, which was limited to one day during store opening hours, was a one-off event in Amriswil. No further details on the impact or exact duration of the problem were released.
