A drunk driver was seriously injured in an accident near Wohlen AG early Sunday morning. The automatic emergency message from his BMW alerted the emergency call center, whereupon the emergency services and police were dispatched.

Before the 25-year-old could be taken to hospital, the fire department had to remove the car doors. This was reported by the Aargau cantonal police on Sunday. An initial alcohol test on the person who caused the accident showed a high alcohol level. "This is likely to have contributed to the accident", the police wrote.
According to the police press release, the man was driving on Wohlerstrasse in the direction of Wohlen before the accident. At the entrance to the village, the BMW veered off the road to the right. He collided with a tree and drove into the grassland. The car spun over an embankment and came to a halt lying on its roof.
