The vacation airline Edelweiss reached new levels of turnover last year, but had to accept a dip in operating profit. Turnover rose to 942 million Swiss francs from 900 million in 2024, which is a new record.

However, the operating result was a different story: Adjusted operating profit (adj. EBIT) fell to CHF 56 million after CHF 81 million in the previous year, as an Edelweiss spokesperson announced on Friday when asked by the news agency AWP. The operating profit margin deteriorated to 6 percent from 9.0 percent a year ago.

Edelweiss has thus met its own revenue forecasts: Airline CEO Bernd Bauer had announced in an interview with AWP in September that sales would exceed the CHF 900 million mark.

In terms of operating profit, however, Edelweiss fell well short of the CEO's expectations: Bauer had said in September that the airline was aiming for an adjusted operating profit of CHF 80 to 85 million.

New passenger record

The number of passengers has continued to rise: Swiss' sister airline flew 3.3 million travelers to destinations all over the world. That was around 300,000 more than a year ago. The number of destinations rose by 11 to 102 and the number of flights also increased by 1700 to 22,100. Punctuality also improved to 68.8 percent from 65.6 percent in the previous year.

On the other hand, aircraft capacity utilization fell slightly: on average, 80.2 out of 100 seats were occupied. That is 1.5 fewer than a year ago.
