Out of a possible 100 points, Switzerland will only achieve 69 by 2050, as the Association of Swiss Electricity Companies (VSE) explained to the media in Bern on Monday. It expects an index of 82 points by 2035. The increase in demand for electricity and the phasing out of nuclear energy are to blame for the deterioration.
The VSE relies on its "Energy Future 2050" study, which in turn is based on the Energy and Climate Strategy and the Electricity Act.
The association criticizes insufficient winter production from renewable energies, the faltering expansion of the electricity grid, limited import options and a lack of socially viable solutions. It is calling for more winter production from renewable energies, grid expansion and an electricity agreement.
