Mysterious Equestrian sports center IENA in Avenches VD celebrates its 25th anniversary

The equestrian sports center Institut Equestre National d'Avenches (IENA) celebrated its 25th anniversary with a horse festival. Around 15,000 horse lovers attended the various events over the weekend, including Federal Councillor Albert Rösti.

Around 500 horses and almost as many riders demonstrated equestrian sport in all its diversity over two weekends, as the organizers announced on Sunday. The sporting events on the 142-hectare site were all free of charge and offered an insight into the diversity of equestrian sport with racing, jumping and dressage.

With its quality of infrastructure and exceptional size, but also its values, IENA is a unique opportunity for the sustainable development of equestrian sports culture, Jean-Pierre Kratzer, President and founder of IENA, was quoted as saying in a press release. The installations are ideal for training and competitions, but also for the well-being of the horses, said Federal Councillor Rösti according to the press release.
