The Austrian singer JJ won the ESC 2025 in Basel. The 2026 music competition will therefore take place in the neighboring Alpine country.
Vienna beat Innsbruck in the race to host next year's event. The federal capital with around 2 million inhabitants applied under the motto "Europe, shall we dance?" ("Europe, shall we dance?"). Vienna relied on its ESC experience, its infrastructure and its many hotel beds. The smaller city of Innsbruck, on the other hand, tried to play up its spectacular location in the middle of an Alpine backdrop with the slogan "Together on Top".
