Eva Wildi-Cortés is to become the new head of the Federal Office of Police (Fedpol). The Federal Council appointed her as the successor to Nicoletta della Valle on Wednesday. She will take up the post at the beginning of February 2025.

Wildi-Cortés is 49 years old and has been Deputy Director of Fedpol and Head of the Resource Management and Strategy Directorate since June 2016. She has held various positions at Fedpol since 2002. The mother of three has a master's degree in economics and political science.

In its press release, the Federal Council cited Wildi-Cortés' track record and her many years of diverse experience in the administration and in connection with police work as the reasons for her appointment. The new Fedpol chief also has broad experience in management and personnel management.
