The man had wanted to drive his calves along a hiking trail near Schönau to a nearby alp, the police headquarters of Upper Bavaria South announced in Rosenheim on Wednesday. In the process, he and a calf fell down on partly vertical rocky terrain.
The calf also died as a result of the fall. Officers from the police's alpine task force took over the accident investigation and, together with the mountain rescue team, the recovery of the body. The public prosecutor's office in Traunstein is conducting further investigations into the accident.
