Work accident Farmer's wife in Dietfurt run over by agricultural machine while mowing

A 55-year-old woman was seriously injured in an accident involving a two-axle mower in Dietfurt SG on Monday afternoon. She had to be airlifted to hospital.

The 55-year-old farmer had wanted to remove the mown grass from the edge of the meadow in the hamlet of obere Schieb with a two-axle mower and belt rake, the St. Gallen cantonal police reported on Tuesday.

The woman stopped the vehicle and got off to do another job. She left the engine of the two-axle mower running. Due to the sloping terrain and the vibrations, the mower started rolling on its own.

The woman probably tried to jump onto the moving agricultural machine, it was reported. She fell and was run over.
