In Switzerland, a 16-year-old boy was fatally injured by an automatic store door during an attempted burglary. This was confirmed by the police in the French-speaking canton of Vaud on Sunday. The teenager was trapped in the neck area. The newspaper "24 heures" had previously reported on the case.

The teenager had tried to get into a sandwich store in Vevey on Lake Geneva on Saturday night. The police found him lifeless in the early hours of the morning. The emergency services were unable to resuscitate the boy. He died on the spot.

Investigators believe it was an accident. The 16-year-old had forced open the electric sliding door with his upper body before it closed around him in the neck area, they said.
