The Federal Council jet returned to Switzerland from Turkey on Wednesday evening. The aircraft had been stranded in Turkey since Saturday due to a technical incident.

An inspection of the aircraft in Turkey revealed no technical irregularities, as the Swiss Armed Forces announced on Thursday. At the end of last week, the crew noticed a brief reduction in acceleration during take-off in Ankara. Among those on board was Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis. However, flight safety was not affected by the incident at any time.

A team of technicians has now carried out a check on the right engine. According to the communiqué, no irregularities were found. The incident is attributed to a very brief stall in the engine. The aircraft is once again available for missions without any restrictions.

The Bombardier Global 7500 Federal Council jet was affected, according to the statement. The aircraft was only recently introduced to the federal air transport fleet, with the first flight planned for February 2025.
