Silk foulards, beauty treatments and a trip to Thailand: A former secretary to the head of UBS used her company credit card around 800 times for private purposes. The Federal Supreme Court has now rejected her appeal against the conviction.

The woman deliberately used the credit card for private pleasure, writes the Federal Supreme Court in its ruling published on Thursday. This was clearly an intention to unlawfully enrich herself, which is why her conviction was lawful.

The Zurich High Court had sentenced the 60-year-old woman to a conditional prison sentence of 18 months for embezzlement. The woman had argued during the court proceedings that she had never concealed her purchases. Everything had been approved by her superiors. "There was a climate of self-service." In total, she squandered over one million francs.
