For 2024, a financing surplus of CHF 7 billion is initially expected for the Confederation, cantons, municipalities and social insurance funds - an increase of CHF 3.2 billion compared to the previous year, according to a statement from the Federal Finance Administration on Tuesday.
However, at CHF 5.9 billion, the surplus for the state as a whole is likely to fall by around one billion in 2025. A surplus of CHF 1.9 billion is still expected for 2026, with net debt at the end of 2026 likely to be CHF 110.8 billion. Due to surpluses in 2027 and 2028, these are likely to fall further by the end of 2028.
However, the positive financing result for the Confederation can only be achieved if planned relief measures are implemented, the Federal Finance Administration emphasizes.
