The Federal Council is proposing 74 partner states to Parliament for the automatic exchange of information on crypto assets from 2027. These include all EU member states, the UK and most G20 states. The USA, China and Saudi Arabia are excluded.

However, according to the Federal Council, an exchange should only take place if the partner states are interested in exchanging information with Switzerland and they meet the requirements of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) reporting framework for crypto assets. This was announced by the Federal Council on Wednesday.

Before the actual exchange of data on crypto assets, it also wants to check once again whether the partner states with which the automatic exchange of information (AEOI) has been activated continue to meet the requirements of the standard.

To this end, the existing review mechanism for the AEOI should also cover crypto assets in future. This would require changes to the federal decree passed by the federal government in February. The bill is currently being discussed in parliament.
