"Modesty in a good sense is a traditional Swiss value," said Keller-Sutter according to the speech text. It is a basic prerequisite for the functioning of Swiss institutions and for good cooperation. If Switzerland did not have humility in the face of democracy, every decision would lead to upheaval.
Switzerland is also a country of compromise. Compromise requires the insight that others also have legitimate concerns. It is unclear what 2025 will bring us, but Switzerland can tackle this new year with confidence. It is strong and capable of acting. The democratic and constitutional institutions are functioning and the public spirit is firmly anchored.
