The brewery and drinks retailer Feldschlösschen recorded a decline in turnover last year. In addition to the declining beer market, a delivery stop to the Migros Group as a result of a price dispute had a particularly negative impact on the result.

Total turnover fell by 3 percent compared to the previous year, as the company announced on Wednesday. Beer sales fell disproportionately by 5 percent. The brewery, which belongs to the Carlsberg Group, does not provide specific sales figures.

Retail under pressure

The decline was particularly pronounced in the retail trade, where sales fell by 6 percent over the year as a whole. Until the end of October, business was stable, the Group writes. In the last two months, however, a delivery stop to the Migros Group with its Denner and Migrolino branches had a negative impact.

In contrast, Feldschlösschen achieved sales growth of over 2 percent in the gastronomy channel. Although beer sales also declined in restaurants, non-alcoholic beers, mineral water and soft drinks more than compensated for this. This development was driven in particular by the expansion of the Pepsi brand in Switzerland, which Feldschlösschen produces as a licensee.

Feldschlösschen is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year. According to the information provided, the market leader in Switzerland employs around 1200 people at 22 locations. The company has been part of the Danish Carlsberg Group since 2000.
