Despite high costs, depressed consumer sentiment and geopolitical uncertainties, the agricultural group Fenaco, which is supported by agricultural cooperatives, has slightly increased its result in 2025. It expects 2026 to be a difficult year.

In the past financial year, net sales fell slightly by 1.1 percent to 7.21 billion Swiss francs, as Fenaco announced on Tuesday. This is the third consecutive decline in sales. By contrast, the operating result (EBIT) rose by 3.2 percent to 110.6 million Swiss francs. As in the previous year, the EBIT margin was 1.5 percent. The equity ratio increased further to 66.5 percent after 65.6 percent in the previous year.
Members should benefit more from the business performance: A total of CHF 36.3 million will flow back to the Landi cooperatives and directly to farmers. This is 1.7 percent more than a year ago.
Stable result expected for 2026
All four business units - Agriculture with seeds and animal feed, the food industry with Ramseier, Retail with Volg and Landi and Energy with Agrola - maintained or increased their market shares, Fenaco wrote. Sales were impacted in particular by lower prices in international grain trading and in the fossil energy business.
Fenaco spoke of a challenging market situation overall. The costs for personnel, infrastructure, logistics and IT remained high. The situation has only eased somewhat in terms of energy costs.
Fenaco is cautious about 2026. Due to high competitive pressure, uncertain markets and continued high costs, the cooperative does not expect growth or net sales and an operating result at the previous year's level.
The Group announced its intention to "optimize and simplify structures and processes". The cost savings are important in order to achieve sustainably stable results. The company did not provide any details in the press release.
