According to initial findings, a parked car caught fire shortly before 2 a.m., wrote the Ticino cantonal police. The flames then spread to other vehicles nearby. The property damage was considerable.
One building was evacuated as a precaution. The residents have since returned to their homes. According to the cantonal police, the cause of the fire is being investigated.
The authorities in the canton of Ticino had called on residents to close windows and doors during the night via the Alertswiss warning service. Ventilation and air conditioning systems should also be switched off.
