"Equality prevents violence": with this slogan, the federal government, cantons, municipalities and NGOs want to draw attention to domestic, sexualized and gender-based violence. The aim is to raise awareness and offer help.

Domestic, sexualized and gender-based violence causes immense suffering on a daily basis, the Department of Home Affairs wrote on Tuesday. In 2024, 40 percent of all registered crimes were related to domestic violence. According to NGO 2025, the number of femicides rose to over 20 cases.

The campaign aims to draw attention to possible violence with everyday situations in which power inequalities and early signs of violence become visible. Unequal power relations encourage violence, while relationships on an equal footing are more likely to lead to peaceful solutions to conflicts.

The multi-year, nationwide campaign is initially aimed at those affected by violence. It then focuses on the victims' environment and finally on perpetrators and potential perpetrators.
