Five villages in the southern Graubünden valley of Misox are without electricity after massive thunderstorms and rainfall. In some of the affected communities, the mains water has also been cut off. The A13 national road was also severely damaged.

The water in all affected municipalities Lostallo GR, Cabbiolo GR, Sorte GR, Arabella GR and Norantola GR is not drinkable, as the commander of the Graubünden cantonal police, William Kloter, told the Keystone-SDA news agency on request. It is currently not possible to say when the flow will return.

The A13 national road between Roveredo GR and the San Bernardino Pass is currently closed. All four roads on the A13 are buried, destroyed and impassable, the media were told.

The cantonal road in the valley is also closed, a police spokesman added. Only the emergency services were able to reach the affected villages from the south via the road. Some boulders five to ten meters in size were lying on the road.
